2009 - Lincoln Day Dinner
Delta County Republicans held their annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday, April 4, 2009 in Delta at the Elks Lodge. Despite the snowy and unpredictable weather, State Attorney General, John Suthers was able to to make the scheduled event driving over Monarch Pass. Governor Ritter was unable to make his scheduled meetings earlier the same day in Delta and Grand Junction due to the inclement weather. Mr. Suthers noted that he should have invited the Governor to ride over with him.The event was well attended. Seventy attendees enjoyed prime rib and chicken. Among the dignitaries attending were Delta County Elected Officials: Debbie Griffith, Assessor; Jim Ventrello, Treasurer; Anne Eddins, Clerk & Recorder; Fred McKee, Sheriff; Jesse Messenger, Surveyor; Commissioners, Bruce Hovde and Olen Lund. Montrose Republican Chairman, Dave Laursen and Vice Chairman, Bob Brown attended and also introduced were Scott McInnis, former 3rd Congressional Representative and Matt Smith, former State Representative. Brief updates were given by current State Representatives Scott Tipton and Steve King with the main guest speaker, State Attorney General John Suthers. Following the speeches, a wine and book auction was held with proceeds benefiting the local Republican party. Les Mergleman was the auctioneer.The focus of the evening was sharing ideas and enthusiasm for Republicans values. It was a successful and fun event everyone.
